Fire does not take a holiday. Neither does Fire Safety

Those who watched StarTrek may recognize the presenter:

State Farm Insurance does a good job on these and many others.

I am not associated with State Farm.  I just want to get the information out.
I have witnessed too many holiday tragedies and many other fires that with a bit
of thought or training could have been avoided.  Not all fires are from deep fryers.  Some are complete accidents. Still others are from plain carelessness or just not truly thinking of what can happen even with a simple candle.

Remington Noisseless Model 7

This one needs cleaned and an adjustment.  It makes typing error (I would never make one (HA!))
I'll do my next post when I am not so tired and do not make soooooo many
mistakes.  I even called it by the incorrect name!  It is a Noiseless Model 7.  I should not post things when I am falling asleep.

Moving sale find from Craigslist

After a bit of negotiating on the home front I have a new old machine added to my collection.  This machine is quite able to be used with a new ribbon, a dust-off and patience to manually align the paper after a carriage return.  I think I will wait until I can clean and adjust it before installing a good ribbon and using it.

111111 binary is 3F hex or 63 decimal or plain language Veterans Day in the U.S.A.

Took some time to do a bit of computer work after 8 hours of it at work so here is a short post I could not pass up due to the date (111111)  Last one for a century.

Now if I could only find a typewriter that did not make typos......

The best laid plans of ....

Well. Not a typecast nor a fountain pen entry.  This was going to be a post on one of my pens and I decided to write about why I prefer a typewriter over word processing programs on a PC and my PC with all my normal blog files decided that it would provide another reason I prefer using a typewriter: Hard drive died.  So for the next few days or so of my free time I'll be getting out my Knoppix disk and recovering the data from my drive and saying good riddance  to my last XP machine.  I have 2 more where I use Ubuntu and Magiea.  I'm in the process of moving all my files to these 2 machines as well as installing the latest distro releases.  Crap always happens when there is no time and when I am busy with my other machines and such.  So for now no typecasts or perhaps blog posts for a short while.  Neat thing about an old manual typewriter, no unwanted auto-formatting or hard drive failures....
